Introduction:

Every production or manufacturing company should follow a complete and precise production plan in order to ensure sound and uninterrupted production of medicine. BPL possesses a well organized Production Planning Department that ensures the desired excellence of quality.

Function of Production Planning:

Issue of B.P.R and B.M.R-

According to the production plan B.P.R is issued by planning department. If any change required in B.P.R, planning will consult with product development for its correction. In case of short batch, the product standard is maintained but batch size is reduced. So, a single B.P.R is issued by production planning department that is for one time use only.

Maintain the monthly plan-

According to the monthly plan based on the demand of the market, production Planning Department suggest production department to manufacture the product.

Ensure the availability of raw and packaging materials-

Planning Department arranges all types of raw and packaging materials by consulting with head office for smooth production.

Arrange physician sample-

Production   Department will separate physician sample from bulk production according to the order of the planning department. In this case, samples are prepared at least one month prior to dispense. These samples are dispensed in catch cover. From manufacturing to packaging production planning department have to pay extra concern for this type of sample.

Arrange products for international market-

Planning Department will arrange and supply the products to the international market. After receiving information from E-mail, they take necessary action to meet that demand for export purpose.

Co-ordinate all sections-

Planning Department co-ordinates  all sections to give highest production within minimum cost and time.

Compare man-hour and achievement-

Planning Department compares man-hour and achievement to know the actual efficiency of man and machine.

Keep daily production report and documents-

Planning department keeps all types of daily production reports and maintain major documentation.

Submission of monthly report-

Planning submits monthly production report to ED.

Production planning department every papers deals of any product including-

                 - Acceptance/Rejection papers of raw and packaging materials.

                 - Order paper.

                 - Delivery report.

                 - BPR.

                 - Other invoices.

Production process proceeds on production planning. So, production planning department needs skilled efficient personnel for arranging pre-planned production schedule.
